I was playing a lottery instant win earlier, Uno to be precise. I have picked three cards; a Red 2 a Blue 4 and a Yellow 2. As I went to select the last card the browser window closed suddenly and I was given a error message saying my browser had quit unexpectedly. I duly restarted the browser and went back to the website. There it told me I had an unfinished game, so I clicked and was returned to my last game. All the prize values the same and the start card the same. I could remember in my head the positions of the two 2 cards and so clicked away at these. To my amazement I did not receive two consecutive 2s but a 2, followed by a 4, followed by a 2… Strange. Maybe I did something different. So I refreshed the window and It again prompted me to finish my game. This time I clicked arbitrary cards. and funnily enough the same sequence turned up.
It seems to me that the game had decided what I was, or indeed was not, going to win before I had even turned over the first card. No luck. No Chance. All predestined.
I’m sure that there is an explanation for this and that it is sat in a folder on some employee’s shelf for just such this occasion. I feel nauseated that I trusted that such an organisation that, by its very purpose, should allow every player the chance to win and not decide, before the game is even begun, how much or when they should win. It seems that even luck is being syphoned out of our lives. Along with choice and freedom they are now all dying breeds. We are told when to enjoy ourselves, when to rest, what to watch and when to win.
I have learned my lesson. May this help all of you too.
This is definitely not the world that I signed up for!
